Electrotherapy
A course on the use of electrotherapy starting in September 2011. The course consists of 3 seminars of 4 days each. Total price of 23 500SEK + tax. Equipment is included in the price.
Electrotherapy is known as a medical treatment and rehabilitation method with very few limitations. Simplified it can be described as the treatment of muscles, tendons, ligaments etc. with electrical energy. Our education programme deals with the use of Galvan and Diadynamic currents. These are not to be mistaken for TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator), which only provides short lasting, if efficient, pain relief.
Diadynamic current therapy uses low frequency alternating currents, based on a direct current of low amperage. This stimulates the damaged area and consequently immediate and lasting improvement can be observed. In using electrotherapy, the unmistakable advantage is that the therapist does not need to physically reach the problematic area to provide treatment. Currents can be connected through the body part, or even as a cross-section through the whole body, consequently affecting the tissue.
Galvan power, in turn, does not directly stimulate the area to be treated, and provides effective pain relief. This type of currents entails the flow of a direct current within the patient’s body between two electrodes. It is possible to ionize swellings and observe how they start to disappear within 10 minutes. This also applies to more severe cases such as hematomas (a pocket or localized collection of blood within the muscle tissue).
During the past 20 years that I have practiced as a massage therapist, I have never been disappointed in the efficiency and the results achieved through the use of Galvan and Diadynamic currents.
